"PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS" Equine Online Newsletter Editor: Penny Most Its all about the horse....... Winter of 2010 Wow what a snowy winter we have had hear in the VA/Carolina area. We have not let the snow keep us down though, we have been really busy this winter. In January we attended another Healthy Stride Clinic in Cincinnati Ohio at Walnut Creek stables hosted by Douwe & Caroline Bergsma.
Picture here is a beautiful Danish Warm blood that had been diagnosed with navicular syndrome unable to be ridden and was suggested by veterinarians to be retired. This horse went sound immediately after being shod by Joe at this clinic and last reports were the horse was doing fantastic.
Our travels found us in Ocala Florida at the end of January 2010 for a visit to the Healthy Stride head quarters at the Parelli Center in Ocala. The weather was warm & a pleasant change from the snow at home. Joe spent the week with Brandon & Jim Crew helping horses and fellow horse people including farriers & trimmers, to understand the principles of posture and its importance to the horse.

Summer of 2009 Asheville, NC is where we found ourselves this past weekend. Double R Stables , owned by Skip Ruckle was the host location for the Healthy Stride Clinic. Brandon Crew came up from GA to conduct the clinic and Joe had the privilege of assisting him. They both did a fantastic job of educating and teaching everyone about the horse and effects poor posture can have and how it should be addressed. It was a great group of people and horses. We made new friends and had the opportunity to participate in wonderful moments of improvement that were experienced immediately. One couple brought their horse all the way from Ohio for the event. They were searching for a solution and they left happy and planning to return to the next Healthy Stride clinic at Double R Stables on July 25th, 2009. It is really a fantastic life we have to get be involved in helping them with their issues they have been struggling with along with their horse. Horses the participated all showed improvement that day and have gotten better with each updated report. Go to Healthy Stride website to see a letter from one of our participants at the clinic. www.Healthy-stride.com PHOTO BELOW group at HEALTHY STRIDE CLINIC in Asheville, NC. To all ,my dearest new friends, What a weekend....!!! Douwe and I drove back on cloud nine to Cincinnati Ohio.... Yesterday my energy was still up, carefully riding, Blaze on the WCSproperty in straight lines...Fantastic !Only today, Tuesday I found the courage to watch the video Douwe took from the ride after all the work you all did for Blaze.....OMG ....My boy's back !!! He looks better than EVER, just minutes after all his legs and feet are taking into directions with angles and shims than they have not been in for years, ...if ever.I guess I was still totally scared to "just believe" the feel of the ride and had to see it on tape. After watching the tape I could let go of all the tension in me and breath again, boy do I feel tired now :-) The above email was sent by Caroline from Ohio after attending the clinic in Asheville, NC. This is just a portion of the e-mail that was sent but just this small portion gets the message across of how happy she is with her horse. July was a great month of us , we have been on the road for most of the month visiting different areas in working with our clients. We had another Healthy Stride clinic in Asheville NC with Brandon Crew & the results were fantastic & everyone had a good time. We had a group cook out on Saturday evening with lots of food and interesting conversation. Our workshops are growing with each month. We ended our month with a great group at a workshop in VA. We had the privilege of having Lynne Myers from Vet-Tec Equine Products on hand to introduce & demonstrate Vet-Tec products to our clients. They even got our clients to use the products first hand and get familiar with them.
We are hearing positive feed back from all of our clients that are actively showing their horses this year. Many are realizing the amazing results they are having with their horses and are seeing the differences in their class placements. We are excited to see how these horses finish up at the end of the year with some of the biggest shows of the season happening this fall plus the futurities that are coming up. With this program you can give your horse every advantage in the show pen. So far as the summer is coming to an end we are getting more and more positive responses from our clients and their horses. Comments on improved energy, athleticism and fluid movement. Horses feeling better than ever and having more willing attitudes. Just this past weekend we were discussing our program and how we are so fortunate to be in the company of such wonderful horse people and ones that truly understand the horse. Its so thrilling to see horse owners understanding posture and its importance in performance. Shelby , NC was where we found ourselves in September with a great group of horses and owners. We spent a couple of days at Trent Rheas farm & training facility. Many of these horses are currently being shown and are doing fantastic in the show pen. Photos below :

The facility had 3 events happening that same weekend and there were horses everywhere. We had several of our clients from the VA & NC area there over the weekend. Some came to watch the show & have Joe take care of their horses and others were there showing for the weekend.
Asheville NC for another weekend with 2 different events happening. Healthy Stride clients came into Asheville, NC to the Double R Stables for shoeing & consulting opportunity. Plus, there was another American Paint Horse Association Show going on in Fletcher, NC. Busy weekend indeed but it was fun and filled with horses.

Horse & Hound Event coming in November in Carrollton VA area
is open to everyone in the area. Lots of great demos, vendors & prizes.
We look forward to seeing all of our friends in the area that weekend!
GREAT crowd & weather for the Horse & Hound event in Carrollton VA, all of those in attendance last year definitely agreed. Thanks to Lisa Perry and all the folks from the area for allowing us to participate this year.
Cincinnati OH here we come!! We headed to
Cincinnati for a Healthy Stride clinic hosted at the Walnut Creek
Stables in Cincinnati OH and coordinated by Caroline & Douwe Bergsma.
It was a great group of people & horses. There was story after story of equine owners struggling with lameness issues with their horses. Many of them were not sure of where to go next in seeking to resolve these problems. We are looking forward to returning in January of 2010 to see the progress and improvements with these horses. There were all breeds Quarter horses, Morgan horses, many warm bloods Arabians and Thoroughbreds that were having posture issues and were helped this weekend.
Our hosts from the farm and Caroline & Douwe did an excellent job in taking wonderful care of us all and it was great to have such a warm reception in the area from everyone. Jim Crew, Brandon Crew, Joe Most & participants at the Healthy Stride Clinic evaluating & discussing equine posture.
Thanks to all our clients and their horses for a great 2009!
